Please make sure any longterm AND IMMEDIATE repairs/revisions address vibrations at 1 Grace Court and other buildings right at the edge of the BQE. Also please consider some kind of overhang/covering similar to the Promenade or BBP berms, even if not completely continuous, to mitigate noise from the highway.
This pedestrian crossing is so dangerous and unpleasant. It often is the deciding factor in my decision not to visit Brooklyn Bridge Park. You have to cross multiple times as speeding cars are given so much more space as they drive onto the highway. It's also fascinating how an otherwise beautiful neighborhood suddenly looks no better than a parking lot. Then the highway makes it noisy for the next few minutes as you inhale exhaust fumes.
The biggest argument for highway removal? The public school kids who directly breathe in exhaust from the BQE. This has lifelong health implications. Nothing short of evil.
This is such a dangerous crossing when I’m trying to walk down Atlantic Ave with my children. It is so scary and we hate it. Please see if you can make it safer for people walking.
Columbia St. is unsafe for pedestrians as it has turned into an extension of the BQE. Please redesign should include adjacent streets to ensure traffic cannot reroute through local neighborhoods in Red Hook, Cobble Hill, Brooklyn Heights and Columbia Waterfront
Restore 3 lanes and improve the merge from Atlantic Ave
Truck vibrations are damaging to buildings along the BQE. The noise and pollution is damaging to our community. Green access connecting Brooklyn Heights with the park and covering the BQE would be the ideal solution.
This intersection is a total disaster
This has become a difficult place for pedestrians to cross. The traffic is often backed up this far down Hicks, and cars constantly block the intersection when pedestrians have the signal to cross.
This area could use some sort of traffic mitigation. There is one turn lane for the entrance to the BQE, but impatient drivers have started using both lanes to turn, making it difficult to pedestrians trying to walk cross between the Van Vorhees Park and Van Voorhees ball field. Drivers should not be allowed to turn onto the BQE ramp while pedestrians have the signal to cross.
