What is being studied?
NYC DOT is studying possible changes to Grand Street and Metropolitan Avenue between Union Avenue and the Metropolitan Avenue Bridge.
The study is looking at whether Grand Street could become one-way eastbound and Metropolitan Avenue could become one-way westbound.
Why is a one-way conversion being studied?
NYC DOT seeks to address ongoing community concerns around pedestrian safety, parking and loading challenges, blocked bike lanes, and slow bus speeds on Grand Street.
The current two-way configuration limits the safety improvements that can be pursued. Converting both Grand Street and Metropolitan Avenue to one-way streets could result in benefits for all road users.
