The BQE–Atlantic to Sands Project will rehabilitate the unique triple cantilever structure and the 21 bridges in the Brooklyn Queens Expressway (I-278) between Atlantic Avenue Interchange and Sands Street. The project, which includes design and construction, will improve vehicular safety by repairing the roadway and various ramps. Repairs on the vertical and horizontal clearances will also result in fewer oversize vehicles exiting the expressway and driving through local streets.
