Whitelaw St Pedestrian Overpass - Arion Rd - 88 St

Very difficult to find this bridge from the north. The route is convoluted and hard to navigate without a bike computer. And then the entrance is a dark, badly designed on ramp with a dangerous lip where you have to make a 90 degree turn before heading up hill. Rough entrance to bridge. Creepy if you're a woman riding alone. But one of the only places to cross so I've used it more times than I can count. Maybe safer from drivers than using Woodhaven/Crossbay, but not necessarily safer and much harder wayfinding.

The long right turn bay is extremely dangerous for cyclists. If you hug the curb drivers will come up from behind you at high speed and cut you off because they feel they've already made their turn. If you stay out in the lane or on the left of the lane drivers you take the chance drivers are going so fast and so tuned out they won't see you, but 100% drivers will lay on their horns and scream and try to shove their way past you instead of just slowing for the few seconds it takes for you to clear the way. If you seek to put a bike route curb side, you must have a stop sign or stop light for drivers. But then, pedestrians probably need that to cross there anyway.

This should be a 90 degree right turn at the light not a swooping unsignaled on ramp that crosses a crosswalk and any through going bike/micro traffic curbside.

This is a terrifying place to drive. So many want to treat this space like part of the highway. It's two lanes which gives everyone an opening to drive aggressively, but the lanes are super narrow and if you are uncertain of your route you could get plowed into by someone who thinks they should be able to 65mpm there. This is a crazy desire line, being both the way off the Belt onto Woodhaven and way out of Howard Beach and onto the Belt, but also used by drivers looking to get around traffic on the Belt. Raw horrifying chaos.

We need to get rid of the highway style design here. Any crossing point over Conduit/Belt is a pinch point for all road users but by prioritizing fast, highway car movement you willfully put peds and bikes in extreme danger in places where "altenrate routes" may be miles away, not easily parallel, and not that much safer. The road design also gives drivers the idea that peds/bikes aren't allowed there so they feel justified for aggressing them and threatening them with their vehicles. Aside from the way they cut you off to get to the ramp, seemingly willing to right hook you, or drive in a way to pinch you out at the curb, they are honking, screaming, engine gunning, even flicking cigarettes out the window. This space is stressful for drivers as well, with a sense of urgency and danger that leads to quick or bad decisions as you try to make sense of where you need to be on the road to get where you are going.

The Cohancey St Bridge is my primary route for crossing Conduit/Belt by bike to get to and from Rego Park and Rockaway. Recent one way conversions aimed at slowing drivers speeding over it has made accessing the bridge by bike from tge south much more difficult. We need two way bike access that prioritizes our desire line to the bridge. Which also might help slow traffic! Every crossing over this needs to prioritize cyclists and pedestrians and focus on minimizing their mileage and physical effort.

Please connect our greenways (parks) to our waterways so human powered bicyclists could get from Forest hills to Rockaway beach safely

A Lefferts Boulevard protected bike lane to and from the Lefferts Blvd Air Train is an absolute must. If we value multimodal transport this should be a priority link in the bike network. I’ve bike here twice and each time I thought it would be my last given that cars speed with no regard for anyone’s safety or welfare. You would have many more people biking to JFK, either employees or travelers with minimal baggage.

Conduit Boulevard - Wells St - Liberty Ave

The access to City Line Park from here feels treacherous to put things lightly. Please remove a lane from the Conduit for people coming off of Atlantic Avenue. If the road is narrowed then cars won’t be induced to speed 10-15 mph above the speed limit

Does this connection need to be here? It’s extremely dangerous to have cars traveling at highway speeds suddenly slow down to make this turn into a residential area. It should be closed off
