You have trucks and semi-trailers making insane left hand turns to get onto Church and Flatbush. There's a school nearby I see kids doing battle with all types of vehicles here. This needs to be under control
This is a really dangerous intersection. Trucks have stopped in this crosswalk and blocked BOTH CROSSWALKS because they are too long.
A lot of cars double parked, a lot of dollar cabs making illegal U-turns.
Freight vehicles often drive up Parkside Avenue. As far as I know, Parkside isn't a truck route but I've seen plenty trucks and their semi-trailers going down this avenue.
People often park their cars at the pedestrian crosswalks here. I've seen elderly people with mobility aids having to walk around the cars that are blocking the crosswalk. Put some physical barriers (a giant rock or planter) at the crosswalks so cars can stop parking the crosswalk
Cars constantly speed past this intersection, often ignoring stops signs. I've seen many close calls with cars almost hitting one another and cars hitting people. Put an elevated cross walk, daylighting, and/or some physical barriers.
Cars often park illegally on this portion of the bike lane. There are not physical barriers and people often park here and block the bike lane
There is a ice cream truck that consistent parks in the pedestrian cross walk, occupies the right turn lane, obstructrs the pedestrian signal, obstructs the entrance/exit into the park, forces pedestrians into oncoming traffic to go around. Someone needs to tell this person to move. It's ridiculous how this one ice cream truck is allowed to make a miserable experience for people biking, people walking, AND for cars driving to navigate around it.
The ~3 block stretch along Bedford/Rogers poses serious safety risks for pedestrians. With multiple daycares and schools in the area, speeding traffic and red-light violations are a persistent concern. A comprehensive traffic-calming overhaul, focused on pedestrians and cyclists, would make a meaningful difference. This corridor sees heavy foot and bike traffic from families with young children, and with the right prioritization, it has real potential to become a thriving neighborhood asset rather than a car-dominated throughway.
Combining the B49 with a truck route is not a great way to make our buses fast. Please reconsider removing one of the two from Bedford Avenue if you truly want to make this work
