we need FHV stands in GreenPoint Williamsburg also!
New York City Department of Transportation Attn: Office of Freight Mobility – FHV Relief Stand Request 55 Water Street, 9th Floor New York, NY 10041 Dear NYC DOT Team, I am writing to recommend the establishment of a For-Hire Vehicle (FHV) relief stand at the intersection of MacDougal Street and West Houston Street in Manhattan. This location, which I’ve submitted via your interactive map tool, is highly suitable and strategically beneficial for a designated relief stand for FHV drivers. This particular area is an ideal spot for several reasons: 1. High FHV Activity Zone: The location is in the heart of Greenwich Village, a dense and busy part of Manhattan with constant FHV activity. Drivers frequently serve nearby destinations such as NYU, SoHo, and the West Village, making this a convenient and accessible location for a quick break. 2. Availability of Amenities: Within a short walking distance are essential services like public restrooms, coffee shops, fast food spots, and convenience stores. These amenities allow drivers to take care of basic needs without straying far from their vehicles or service areas. 3. Traffic-Friendly Layout: The corner of MacDougal and West Houston has relatively open curb space compared to more congested blocks. A relief stand here would not significantly interfere with traffic flow and could be implemented with minimal impact to local residents or businesses. 4. Supports Driver Health & Compliance: By providing a legal and safe place to stop, the city supports drivers’ health and wellbeing while also reducing traffic violations due to unauthorized stops or idling. This improves overall safety and compliance. In short, this proposed relief stand location will help create a more sustainable working environment for FHV drivers, ease pressure on curb space elsewhere, and promote safer streets. Thank you for considering this suggestion, and I hope it aligns with the city’s ongoing efforts to support the FHV workforce and improve transportation infrastructure.
In this location at least 1000 TLC driver live. Also there is a Bathroom nearby at "The Pearly Gates" park. If there is a relief stand it will be very convenient for all TLC driver.
