Do not allow the MTA to end direct service between Brooklyn and LI. This will make commutes harder for thousands of people every day.

The IND Archer Avenue Line already curves toward the Atlantic Branch and ends at South Road. The Atlantic Branch should be converted for subway service. This would be relatively cheap–the right-of-way already exists. Stations should be located at 108th Avenue, Guy R Brewer Boulevard, Farmers Boulevard, Baisley Boulevard and Springfield Boulevard. Service would be more frequent, would be cheaper, and would be more accessible. The bus system could then be reconfigured as buses from Southeast Queens would not have to go all the way to Jamaica. Instead, they could act as feeders to the E extension. E service to Jamaica would be increased as well. During the peak of rush hour, 15 E trains per hour run. However, because of the location of the crossovers at Jamaica Center, only 12 E trains per hour can terminate there, requiring 3 to go to 179th Street. By building a better terminal, all 15 E trains could serve Jamaica. To ensure that capacity on the LIRR is reduced, a third track should be built along the existing Montauk Branch through St. Albans. A new yard should be built at Railroad Park, which was the original purpose of its acquisition. This extension would revolutionize southeast Queens. It has long been neglected, and an improvement on this magnitude would improve the quality of life, and reduce some of the longest commutes in the entire nation.

The lack of adequate rail service around Jamaica causes congestion and auto dependence. The City should consider funding a study into (1) extending the subway beyond Jamaica or building new elevated lines in the expressway right-of-way; (2) upgrading the LIRR for more frequent service like London's Overground network; and (3) expanding the AirTrain to make it usable for non-airport journeys (e.g., extending the AirTrain from Jamaica to Flushing and expanding train capacity).

There is no sidewalk here. The dirt is evidence that this is a regularly used pedestrian route.

It is dangerous to cross here. However, it is also dangerous to cross at the crosswalk at 80th. There should be a crosswalk here. I would use it every day.
