I have wondered why their isn't a stop sign between Liverpool street and 97th avenue because drivers tend to speed down this avenue and their have been numerous accidents at this intersection and their is a school one block from here.

The Q30, Q31 bus has to make a complicated turn here. It slows down everyone's commute and for 40 years I've wondered - Why? Close off the section of 169th here and shape the triangle so the bus doesn't have to make a 90 degree turn to get onto 169th St south of Hillside.
This area is a favorite hangout for residents of the several local homeless shelters and halfway houses. This creates a disturbance and undesirable atmosphere for area residents and visitors. Also, the corner deli has been robbed at gunpoint several times.
Students of Hillcrest HS use this intersection to get from their buses/subway to their school. This occurs during morning rush hour and can create a dangerous situation for them, as well as additional congestion for the traffic.
The bus stop for Q25, Q34, Q65 are right here, but the bus never pulls into the sidewalk, which at times makes it very difficult and dangerous to take the bus since you have to walk into the street to flag it down. This has resulted in many buses skipping the stop. In addition, there are multiple private vans that stand here to attract customers away from the MTA. Van standing and idling here is illegal and also causes a lot of congestion. These vans also drive aggressively and U-turn illegally.
Buses such as Q30 are always crowded and fill up quickly with commuters transferring from the F train in the afternoon peak hours from 4p - 7pm.
Commuter vans usually parked here when there are clear no standing bus zones. MTA buses are frequently delayed and congested at this point.
After cars turn, there are red traffic lights that prevent them from moving further, causing massive traffic in the streets that are frequently used by MTA buses, which make the buses always late. Commuter vans also parked here and aggressively drive pass buses, even when buses have the right of way and ignore traffic lights.
Many vehicles parked for the entire day blocking the handicapped access ramps and bus stops. Cars usually have placards however the cars are never moved.
Buses often are stuck at this intersection due to the short street that has a traffic light after making any turns in both directions. During afternoon peak hours, commuter van often aggressively cut buses and ignore traffic lights and rules.
