No Crosswalk
No Crosswalk
33 Rd - 21 St - Pedestrian Path

This is a very long stretch of road with no crosswalks and several dangerous unmarked intersections, encouraging drivers to speed, and pedestrians to jaywalk. A crosswalk should be added at 33rd Road to calm traffic and allow people to cross the street safely.

Astoria Greenway - Astoria Park South - 9 St

Make this an official bike lane to connect more easily to Astoria park from other bike lanes in the area.

Intersection should have a light - crossing Vernon on foot or by bike is very dangerous due to high speed driving. The curve in the road to the south of this intersection does not allow visibility to any cars heading north.

Long Wait to Cross
Long Wait to Cross
Rfk Br Queens Ped And Bike Path - Ny-qn Cnty Boundary - Hoyt Ave North

Pedestrian crossing time on South sidewalks of Hoyt Ave N to cross 21st is too short.

Failure to Yield

Astoria Park South - Astoria Park South - 21 St

Aggressive drivers try to bully pedestrians out of the crosswalks when they have the light. This intersection should have a pedestrian-only light cycle seeing as the park is such a popular destination.

I disagree with other comments. You cannot have a crosswalk at every intersection or 21st street won't move, this isn't Manhattan. There is little business and this is not a "micro-neighborhood" with all amenties that require easy foot traffic flow. With the exception of a few salons on either side and a travel agency or two, this isn't an area looking of major foot traffic development. The "blocks" in reference are not even full avenue blocks in distance, they're short blocks. If the plan is to rezone along 21st to encourage businesses all along the route, then a crosswalk would make more sense, but at present, it does not. Just go to 26th ave or Hoyt Ave S. if you need to cross.

Double Parking

This northbound bus stop is often blocked by double-parkers

Here and at most if not all the other long curb cuts for gas stations and auto body shops along 21st St, the lack of any differentiation between the sidewalk and the gas station means that drivers don't look for pedestrians, and often drive on the sidewalk. Bollards or curbs (not flexible delineators or paint) would help delineate the space for pedestrians, as would narrowing curb cuts to just one car-width for entry and exit.
