Left turn for cars driving south is nearly impossible during green light. Need dedicated turning lane or arrow
Adding a camera enforced dedicated bus lane would provide: 1. Faster transportation to F train service and better support transportation needs of those living in NYCHA housing along 21st Street 2. A safer lane for bicycle traffic, keeping aggressive drivers out of a lane of traffic 3. Prevent parking and double parking which significantly slowed traffic 4. Provide an incentive for using public transportation 5. Provide a disincentive for vehicular traffic.
Due to traffic and double parking along the 21st St. Q69 buses arrive at the same time. In-between them people have to wait a long time for the bus. Buses arrive already full. I'm a driver, pedestrian and a bike rider, and I understand the difficulty of these issues. I welcome dedicated bus lanes because there is an opportunity to move a lot more people to/from F, N/W and R/M/E trains. For this to work buses need to come on a regular basis, otherwise they are too full and it takes too long to get there. I live on the 21st street and most car traffic is single drivers. A lot of the drivers likely avoid the Triboro bridge (because it is so expensive) and go down to the 59th street bridge to cross to Manhattan. To sustain commuting for everyone, we all need to compromise. I take public transportation to work also. I think you should consider a bus line, a car line, and car parking. There are bike lines east and west of the 21st street, and they are much safer streets. The bottom line is, a lot of people would appreciate more frequent and faster buses. The GPS system was a game changer, OMNY will be as well, but traffic congestion and full buses cancel these great benefits. Thank you.
There are aggressive drivers all along 21st street but in particular near the intersections along Astoria park
Roadway is terrible, especially in the area marked for bikes. So many potholes and uneven terrain, in addition to the double parking - very dangerous!
The corner of Broadway and 14th street desperately needs a crosswalk. There is a crosswalk for crossing 14th, but not for crossing Broadway. The nearest ones are very far away! There's a high school right there! The street is wide and cars speed down it all the time even though it's a school zone. Get some speed bumps and maybe some traffic controls as well. The Q104 has stops on both sides, but if you need to cross to get to one of those stops, good luck.
Speeding is rampant up and down 21st street whenever there's a gap in traffic. This happens throughout the whole street, but especially between Broadway and 34 Ave. The street really needs traffic calming.
Very long wait to cross here, which is a high foot and car traffic area.
This intersection is an absolute mess. 5 streets converging into a single point with confusing crossing points and long waits for all parties involved. Please make this more efficient.
Along 21st Street, we need dedicated left turn lanes and left turn signals. With 2 lanes of oncoming traffic and the overall congestion along the road, it is extremely risky to make a left turn along any avenue on 21st street. Broadway in particular is extremely dangerous as there are often pedestrians from the HS, 4 bus stops with large crowds (one on each corner) and cars often attempting to turn left.
