The 21st street corridor is severely congested. Please add center-running bus lanes with BRT type bus stops along the median so buses can bypass traffic and increase bus speed and capacity along 21st, incentivizing bus ridership instead of car/taxi usage, making the corridor more efficient. To avoid conflicts between left turning cars and enroute or turning buses, signalling for car and bus lanes should be separated.

This comment is about the 100 at 21st/Broadway but the same comment is true for the other buses that stop at 21st/34th and 21st/35th. PreCovid - these buses were regularly so crowded that folks waiting to get on would just jump on through the back door. By getting in on the back they guaranteed that they'd get on the bus. If you wait to get in the front a) you have to pay b) you're not guaranteed to be able to get on. I don't know what post covid is going to look like. But there needs to be more flexibility around adding buses when they're needed (rush hour).
Cars block the bus stop.
The auto shops on 21st St need to stop using the sidewalks for car storage, as an extension of their garages and as an alternate driving route when their driveways are packed with other cars. There are often vehicles driving down the sidewalk on the west side of 21st between the laundromat and the NQV flagpole area. The traffic on the sidewalks of 21st ST pose a danger to all pedestrians - but especially those with disabilities and children.
To make up for lost parking spaces - what about adding more angled parking onto wide enough side streets? 14th St between 34th ave the the dead end is wide enough to accomodate angled parking on at least one side of the street. B/c it’s a dead end it will not see much increase in traffic but will eliviate parking issues due to lost spaces on 21st. I believe there are other side streets a block or two off of 21st that could accommodate higher density parking without sacrificing safety.
I would like to see a planter median running the length of 21st. Possibly put a two way protected bike lane down the middle of the median. Remove the rent-free street parking from at least one side of 21st (possibly both sides) to “pay for” the space for the median. The median would make crossing the street easier as pedestrians would only need enough time to get half-way across the street before the light/traffic change.
