Long crossing path da grouse for bicycle and pedestrian
The intersection on 3rd and 60th street is unbelievably dangerous. As a resident of the waterfront side, I rarely cross into Sunset Park unless absolutely necessary. I'm terrified for my family members, neighbors, and schoolchildren who attend the nearby schools and have to cross this street. Eliminate lanes, reduce length to cross, implement Barnes Dance lights, literally do anything to prioritize pedestrian safety over vehicles.
This intersection is very dangerous for bikers and pedestrians with cars turning into 38th st to get to 4th or 5th ave. Many do not respect the light. A protected bikelane would help non-car users feel safer in this area.
The pedestrian crossing areas on 58 and 59 Streets get very dirty/muddy from highway runoff and rain currents and may eventually become impassible due to accumulated debris. Can these be cleaned regularly?
PLEASE stretch this study one more block to 63rd street. This is where many people including children cross to access the soccer field at Tom Joyce Soccer Field and get to John Allen playground. Walking down to 3rd Ave from the 63rd Street cutoff and crossing there poses serious safety risks as visibility of pedestrians is blocked by the columns holding up the BQE.
Aggressive driving outside of autoshops. Cars racing down 3rd avenue and using the width of the street to aggressive drive in circles
Add protected bikeline along 3rd avenue
Revamp/Improve the parking space below the BQE right in the middle. Remove street parking and add protected bike lanes.
Extremely dangerous pedestrian crossing at 3rd avenue. The sidewalk at the median is not accessible forcing pedestrians to walk in the road to cross 3rd avenue.
Expand or mark the parking spots under the BQE between the 40s and 50s. With the elimination of parking in the area due to bike share and other DOT initiatives, car owners in the area have limited viable parking spaces. Beatification efforts and expansion of EV charging should be done closer to industry city. Under the BQE in the 30s as the it already offers 2 different parking lots for customers that chose to drive in
