Completely eliminate metered and unmetered parking beneath the BQE for the entire curbed spans adjacent to 53rd Street (the traffic island between 52nd St and 53rd St, and the traffic island between 53rd St and 54th St) and substitute these areas with hardscaped sports-heavy parkland like under the Triboro or the FDR. This will minimize the exposure that most pedestrians traveling to-and-from the subway have to idling parked cars, revving parked cars, and poorly-parked cars blocking east-to-west crossings of Third Avenue. It will also bring much-needed recreation space to the area, and make visiting Industry City a more pleasant experience by subway (and by foot/bike from points east) more pleasant, incentivizing repeat visits and boosting the local economy. It would also be nice if all parking beneath the BQE between 19th Street and 54th Street was turned into metered parking, with fines applied, please. Certain vehicles have been rotting under there from before COVID.

Speed bumps needed before this (54th Street) crosswalk, possibly elevating the crosswalk outright. Third Avenue's whole span between 54th and 60th inclusive is really dangerous for pedestrians because of weaving cars. Bollarded areas at crosswalk and longer traffic light intervals needed
