Always feel unsafe crossing under here to get to industry city!
Chaotic, dangerous intersection for pedestrians. Too much traffic and poorly designed intersection creates sketchy and scary intersections for pedestrians seeking to travel to/from industry city and sunset park waterfront. Cars exiting from the BQE at this location drive recklessly.
The BQE underpass should be repurposed for non-vehicular uses as much as possible. A road diet and investment in bike lanes please! There is no need for car parking or multiple lanes/service lanes in the underpass area.
Extremely dangerous intersection for pedestrians. Long crossing distance, dangerous turning lanes, poor visibility, reckless driver behavior, etc - all contribute to a very unsafe crossing in a heavily trafficked area with multiple nearby schools.
The areas near 3rd ave at 44th St. are extremely dangerous for biking and pedestrians walking under the overpass and/or crossing 3rd avenue. The traffic is super aggressive. A beautification project under the overpass, with a safe walkway and bike path, along with plants and exercise equipment (similar to the new bike path around lower Manhattan, would be a significant improvement to the Industry City area. It would help to generate more foot traffic, improve small business development, and make Sunset Park a more beautiful place to live. Thank you for considering this proposal!
