Furman St - Furman St - Brooklyn Waterfront Greenway

Terribly unhealthy air quality at 360 Furman. Black soot piles up on my windows; my kid has asthma because of this highway, and I've started to have it for the first time as an adult since living in the building. The air smells acrid around the lobby of my building all the time. The noise from trucks grinding gears coming up onto the highway wakes us all up all night. My kids can't sleep.

Atlantic Ave - Hicks St - Brooklyn

Very dangerous pedestrian crossing for families with young kids. The lights and where to cross is confusing. The freight trucks turning left onto the BQE often roll on to the sidewalk. There are too many cars coming and going in all directions trying to get to BBP. And it's unattractive and dirty.

Henry St - State St - Atlantic Ave

The closure of the BQE has caused significant traffic along Henry Street, disrupting residents and visitors alike. Furthermore, the traffic has caused unsafe conditions in the bike lane, with drivers constantly blocking or swerving into the bike lane.

The crosswalk here is extremely unsafe for pedestrians. This is a crucial place intersection for pedestrians (and bikers) to access beautiful public space, and every time I cross I am afraid of getting run over.

Furman St - Doughty St - Montague St

Since the BQE was reduced to two lanes, the overflow from the BQE on Furman St results in more frequent bumper to bumper backup from Old Fulton to Atlantic. Crossing at Old Fulton, Joralemon or Atlantic Ave is difficult for pedestrians. Local residents experience severe delays getting to or from residences in Brooklyn Heights and Cobble Hill.

Columbia St - Atlantic Ave - Columbia St

The traffic flow to the BQE onramp from Atlantic is now limited to one left hand lane. Traffic from Columbus St now frequently gets backed up with people saying in the left lane to turn right as it aligned to the Atlantic Ave land for the onramp. Any traffic wanting to turn left on Atlantic and access to Furman is held up and drivers frequently driven the other side of the street into oncoming traffic to bypass the backup. When sporting events are at Van Voorhess Park, cars park illegally in the right hand lane limiting Columbus St to one lane and exacerbating the flow issues around this intersection.

The BQE on ramp has a traffic light filter that cars constantly run the red light endangering pedestrians. The light sequence for pedestrians is too short. Additionally, cars turning left from Atlantic to the on ramp fail to see or yield to pedestrians, especially when traffic is dense.

This is cross walk, entrance ramp is an safe place for a pedestrian to cross the street. I never cross here at night. It might be more safer to cross over on the other side of Atlantic Av but then the walkway on that side needs to feel safer with a clean or cleared sidewalk.
