This area between 59th and 60th on 3rd avenue is terrifying. I have witnessed crashes and near-misses and there are schools on either side. Please address pedestrian safety and traffic congestion at this intersection.
This is the ONLY on-access for the East-bound BQE between my home in Sunset Park and Atlantic Ave. The area leading up to this on-ramp gets very backed up every single morning and creates an insane amount of traffic on Hamilton Avenue and some other side streets. The time is takes, the congestion, the amount of emissions that occur due to traffic, leaves a lot of room for improvement. we need an on-ramp in Sunset park or, as an alternative, at the Prospect Ave intersection (there is a West-bound on ramp there) Simply getting ONTO the highway is a large part of my commute. And it’s not fun or efficient.
Please improve pedestrian crossing at 45th st
Constant accidents occur at this intersection, especially during the warmer months.
This is a dangerous intersection. Cars parked blocking lanes of traffic. cars speeding through the intersection putting pedestrians in danger. The city needs to stop prioritizing cars.
Biking here is very difficult. Traffic is consistently backed up and the bike lane is not protected.
This underpass is grotesque. I feel unsafe because of car traffic here often. People throw litter out of their windows constantly onto the road below, where people are walking.
The left lane northbound is often backed up with large vehicles waiting to turn left on 19th street to access home depot, generally to the point that they obstruct both 3rd ave and 19th street simultaneously, causing gridlock in all directions.
DEMOLISH THE BQE. It is a horrendous stain on our city and the worst possible use of public space - loud, aggressively polluting, and hostile to human life. DOWN WITH IT!
45th St is an important pedestrian corridor, with a R subway stop at 4th Ave, so it makes sense to focus efforts on improving this intersection. Right now I need to walk in the street with my toddler's stroller, since the medians are not accessible.
