36 St - 3 Ave - 3 Ave

36th St is an important pedestrian corridor, with an express stop on the D and N, so it makes sense to focus efforts on improving this intersection.

Cap the BQE and make green spaces to mitigate the toxic contamination and pollution of the trucks and cars.

77 St - 6 Ave - 7 Ave

Trucks drive very fast through despite "no trucks allowed" sign to hop onto the BQE. Dangerous for the people and children who play on the block.

BIke lane abruptly ends at the BQE. It should extend past the BQE and into Bay Ridge.

Pedestrian

6 Ave - Erik Pl - 65 St

Dangerous to cross this path. Cars drive violently in this area and routinely run red lights and make sudden turns to get onto the BQE. There has been a fatality in this area last year.

Dangerous to cross this path. Cars drive very fast and violently coming on and going on the BQE. The William McKinley Park is the closest park for many residents on the Bay Ridge side of the BQE and crossing to get there is dangerous.

Vehicles (and trucks violating no-truck's allowed sign) routinely speed past 77th to hop onto the BQE. Neighborhood roads shouldn't have direct vehicular access to the BQE and should be routed to the larger roads feeding onto the BQE (i.e. Bay Ridge Parkway).

This intersection and road section before and after the turn are backed up everyday for hours by trucks trying to get on the BQE at atlantic. The traffic on the BQE is so bad at that section that trucks are backed up down columbia. When the light at that intersection changes maybe one or two cars or trucks get through, then the rest run the red and block the box. People cut other people off driving into oncoming traffic to try to pass all of this. It's incredibly dangerous for pedestrians in the area and an absolute driving nightmare. Remove the BQE and restore local streets for local traffic.

This is a major bike path connecting red hook to other neighborhoods and is incredibly dangerous to cross. Cars and trucks frequently run the reds and the heavy traffic is all trying to bypass the earlier bqe entrances and avoid all the congestion. Cops park in the bike lane directly below the bridge to try and ticket drivers. These problems wouldn't exist if the BQE was demolished and the neighborhoods were reunited.

Close the Belt Parkway and open the waterfront to pedestrians, bicycles, and open spaces. This could increase congestion on the roadways and the BQE, but it's a worthwhile effort. There are numerous documented cases where counter-intuitively closing a road or highway actually improves congestion for a multitude of reasons. See "Braess's paradox." The benefits of closing the highway and opening the waterfront outweigh the potential cons in my opinion. Please consider.
