There's a space to exit the Greenway at Canal but no crosswalk.
The car crossings here are daunting, as a pedestrian--too wide! Drivers go too fast and it makes it less pleasant to walk
Drivers block the box constantly here, making it very challenging to bike or walk through--this is especially a problem because this is the main northbound bike route heading to Greenwich Village etc. It makes the lane along Sara Roosevelt Park much less useful.
The entirety of Canal Street between bridge and tunnel should be sunk and decked over, converting it into a pedestrian/bike linear plaza, with a path for buses and emergency vehicles only. Canal Street has been a dangerous street my entire life, and I've never seen it worse than lately.
A protected bike lane on Canal St would add a key east-west connection to Lower Manhattan and provide an important, direct connection into the popular Manhattan Bridge bike path. Canal St, as a major thoroughfare, sees lots of pedestrian traffic that would also benefit from the traffic calming that a protected bike lane on Canal Street would bring.
Very narrow sidewalk, especially near subway entrances
this is one of the worst crosswalks in the entire city to try and get across
people at this intersection are insane and its very hard to cross on all four crosswalks
