A holistic visioning project for improving conditions along the Canal Street corridor from the West Side Highway to the Manhattan Bridge

Why Canal Street?

Canal Street is a historic and significant throughway for New York City. With the Holland Tunnel to the West and the Manhattan Bridge to the East, Canal Street links lower Manhattan to New Jersey and Brooklyn while passing through the Hudson Square, SoHo, Little Italy, and Chinatown neighborhoods. Because of Canal Street's heavy use, NYCDOT is hoping to revision the corridor with a focus on safety and accessibility improvements for pedestrians.
