I don't know what the answer is, but I ride my bike via this route daily and it isn't working. Anywhere where you have the bike lane directionality in opposition to the traffic direction, you create a condition that incentivizes cyclists to go the wrong way in the bike lane. Every day I have to swerve, crowd to the side, or stop to avoid getting hit by cyclists going with the direction/flow of traffic, but against the direction marked for the bike lane. I can't blame them entirely, because it's very confusing and counterintuitive to everyone for hte bike lane to be in the opposite direction of the vehicular traffic. PLEASE rethink this. Understand behavior and don't plan out pathways on paper that go against expectations.

There are very often cars parked in the bike lane here due to the hotel. In the mornings, there are often trucks that service the hotel delivering goods. At other times there are frequently taxis parked here picking up or dropping off passengers to the hotel. It's a city-wide problem of how to deal with bike lanes that fall on streets with hotels on them.

I use this bike lane daily and more often than not, there are cars parked here, people crossing midblock, police standing in the bike lane. It's super frustrating.

The bike lane on Bergen Ave is dangerous and a hazard to teachers who park at PS 9 school. The bicycle riders do not adhere to safety rules when riding. There is limited parking for teachers as it is. Reconstructing bike lanes will add to this issue. It is unfair as city workers we are not taken into consideration for this change. If you don’t want cars parked on the street, create parking lots for teachers.

I frequently walk in this area and worry about the safety of speeding cars. A bike boulevard would be beneficial to pedestrians, cyclist, and even cars since it would encourage drivers to slow down.

This is a residential block. The residents are not being taken into consideration. This block would not benefit from this project. It is it not merited on a small residential street that already suffers from congestion and no parking. This block can't possibly be used as a bike boulevard, a truck route, a fire truck route and a bus route. This project would deeply disrupt residents. Taking parking away will not fix the traffic and will only mean that residents don't have anywhere to even pull over to unload families or groceries making the streets more dangerous. Many of these need to be routed to a commercial street or a multiple laned street. I praying this does not go through.

This is a horrible idea that will add to congestion traffic. Floating sidewalks on such a narrow street that is only 1 lane will make it difficult to park and drive. That only works on multiple lane streets. Parking was already taken away by the horrendous planters on Underhill Ave that no one wanted. No this? Families that need cars are second class citizens to bicycles. Ridiculous.

Unsafe Crossing

Would love safer connections across Fulton to Bergen/Dean from Tompkins & Throop. This is currently a little hard/nerve-wracking to cross and there isn’t necessarily dedicated space for bikes to connect the routes

The crossing guard who works here is AMAZING at her job and deserves commendation

The B65 bus regularly gets stuck on this corner because of the tight turn and illegally parked cars. This corner is extremely dangerous for pedestrians and bikers alike, especially with the Bergen St subway and multiple schools on the block. In my decade living on Bergen St I have seen countless near misses and actual collisions.
