Parking in Bike Lane
Parking in Bike Lane
Dean St - Flatbush Ave - 6 Ave

Whenever there is an event at Barclays (most nights), the bike lane here is completely overtaken by cars parked, taxis dropping off or picking up, police vehicles, buses, etc. There are often orange cones in the street, bike lane, and it is extremely confusing where cyclists are expected to ride. The police and venue staff largely ignore cyclists and don't seem to ever often any useful instruction.

This intersection and (and really this whole stretch of 6th Ave) is constant mayhem. Cars completely ignore red lights. Police vehicles are parked on the curb. Horns and blaring all the time. It's worse during a Barclays event, but it's never calm. A car almost drove into the lobby of our building. I see smashed vehicles on Bergen regularly. Police precinct is right there and nothing happens. There are multiple residential buildings, an ambulatory care center and a school and it all feels very unsafe.

super scary crossing here. this short block should be bus only.

Illegal Parking

Bergen St - 6 Ave - Carlton Ave

Citizens are tired of the NYPD abusing our sidewalks for personal parking. This whole intersection is congested and narrowed by their mismanaged, illegal parking and it's dangerous for everyone-- especially bikers and pedestrians who are forced into the roadway. Their storage of crashed vehicles at this intersection also contributes to the problem. Physical barriers designed to protect bikers and cordon off these areas to prevent parking abuse would be great.

I love the idea of a dedicated REALLY safe bike lane that I could take to Prospect Heights. I'm a really unsteady and nervous city biker and too scared to bike (in an area where double-parking and aggressive driving are really common). So some real concrete dividers or a dedicated bikes-only lane would be AMAZING.

Speeding

Pacific St - Saratoga Ave - Howard Ave

Cars and giant trucks GUN IT down this street. Often turning off Atlantic. We need speedbumps.

Luria Academy staff park personal vehicles in the No Standing zone forcing their school buses to obstruct the bike and driving lanes during school dismissal. We are looking for better No Standing enforcement and infrastructure solutions that enable parents, cab drivers, delivery vehicles to drop off passengers/cargo while keeping west-bound travelers safe. 672 Bergen is a ground floor commercial warehouse so space for parking and loading trucks on the south side of the street is required.

As another possibility, please consider a two-way bikeway on St. Marks Ave from Grand Ave to Kingston or Schenectady Ave. The street is wider than others and there are no buses to contend with.

Bergen is my most frequent bike route and B65 is my most frequent bus! I am curious what happens to the B65 around this part. I live on this block and appreciate that there are buses so close to my house because the nearest accessible subway station is a 16-min walk (Utica A/C).

Ralph Ave - Bergen St - St Marks Ave

I live on St Marks and bikers are supposed to bike eastbound, turn left onto Ralph, then left onto Bergen in order to head west. It would be helpful to have some bike signage for this turn because it's awkward.
