Please consider adding a leading interval at this intersection. Cars frequently speed down Bergen St and then turn left, downhill onto Hoyt St. It feels dangerous to cross here because you're often in conflict with turning vehicles.
I've lived here for 31 years now—all my life—and I'm thrilled that the bike infrastructure will finally be improved. We need a protected bike lane and traffic slowing measures because people drive really dangerously on this street.
As a pedestrian residing on the Bergen/Carlton intersection I can attest that we (and our neighbors) feel FAR more at risk by the reckless behavior of cyclists than by drivers of vehicles. Our experience is that many, many (not all) cyclists ignore the traffic light, pedestrian crossings and one way traffic rules, whilst others regularly ride on our sidewalks (at speed). I personally have been knocked into, had my dogs knocked into and have frequent near misses with cyclists weekly. Please do not exacerbate this problem by increasing the volume of cyclists (let alone the likelihood of speed). While it is unpleasant that our block has turned into a parking lot due to construction on Dean with non-stop traffic jams and beeping, those unpleasantnesses pale in comparison to the physical danger we regularly experience as pedestrians from cyclists who fail to follow any rules or norms. It's a hard NO please on a bike boulevard on Bergen.

Although moving the B65 to Atlantic Ave could make biking safer on Bergen and Dean, this change would put pedestrians going to and from Atlantic Ave to get to the bus at risk. Until major changes are made to Atlantic Ave in terms of pedestrian safety, routing pedestrians to this street to catch the bus does not improve safety, but encourages more people towards unsafe street segments.
The bus stop on the other side of Bergen near UPS should be moved across Nostrand Ave because there are too many cars double-parked in front of the UPS store which is unsafe for bikers. The previous bus stop should become parking and then the parking that's on the other side should be a loading zone/15-minute parking for UPS customers.
I strongly support this project. I live in Dean st. Between New York and Nostrand Aves. This intersection is very busy with pedestrians and cyclists and motorists drive very fast and sometimes erratically through this intersection. My husband had to jump out of the way of a speeding car making a left onto Dean st. From Nostrand through a red light! Anything that can be done to calm traffic and protect vulnerable pedestrians and cyclists at this intersection would be welcome.
NO BIKE BOULEVARD! It's bad enough as it is, with bikes speeding down the street and blowing through traffic lights. I have mobility issues and almost got hit by a bike yesterday, when the light was still red but about to turn green. I regularly use car services to get around and can't even get into them with so many bikes. Why prioritize bikers over residents?
Where is the B65? I walked out to my regular stop and it was gone! I checked on the MTA website and the bus stop at Bergen and 4th Ave is no longer listed. I have mobility issues and could not walk to 5th or 3rd. Please restore the bus stop.
