I am in full support of the Bike Boulevards on both Bern & Dean. These bike lanes will be critical east west paths for cyclists and deliveristas. I would like to see it curb seperated, push the parking outbound and have a raised path if possible.
I don't agree with the plan to make Bergen Street a bike boulevard. There is a bus (B65) running on this street and the street is too narrow to accommodate cars, a bus and parking space. St Marks or Prospect are much wider streets (with no bus traffic) and would make more sense for a bike boulevard.
Fulton is used excessively for vehicle traffic and lacks prioritizing bicycle rides. Cars can travel on Atlantic. Frequent speeding and dangerous passing of vehicles while cycling to get to and from home in the area. Requesting a protected bike lane to improve safety for drivers and bicyclist in the area.
Without the leading pedestrian light this intersection would be even more dangerous to cross via bike. Cars ignore cyclist when cross the intersection going South. Needing a protected bike lane on Franklin to improve traffic flow and peds/bike safety. Would be great to connect a protected Franklin bike lane to proposed bike boulevards!!
Afternoon rush hour cars frequently speed crossing Fulton Street via Franklin. Causes pedestrians to wait in the street for car to pass to use their crosswalk signal. Recommend LPI signaling for cyclist and pedestrian safety inside the intersection.
Would love to see the parking removed from here for a wider bike lane! In particular would appreciate someone getting the cops to stop parking on the sidewalk here
These are really narrow streets and removing parking for a bike boulevard would be a hardship for the neighborhood and community, especially the elderly that require vehicular transport for doctors' appointments and other basic needs.
This area of Brooklyn would so greatly benefit from improved bicycle infrastructure. The cars driving on Flatbush have so little regard for everyone outside their vehicle that we must build the protections proposed by the Dean & Bergen Bike Boulevard Project
Re Bergen/Dean Street Bike Blvd: Why not have Eastern Parkway be a model bike boulevard? There is plenty of room!
RE: Opposition to the Proposed Bergen and Street Dean Bike Boulevard Project Dear Mayor Mamdani and DOT Commissioner, As a resident on Bergen Street and direct stakeholder of the Crown Heights/Park Slope community, I oppose the current design plan for the Bergen and Dean Street Bike Boulevard project. While I support the goal of street safety, the 10-mile redesign creates severe hardships for my neighborhood. I urge the DOT to pause the proposal and re-evaluate the impact of the project. I ask that the city pause the aggressive redesign and work with the community transparently on targeted, localized safety improvements that do not come at the expense of accessibility, parking, and traffic flow and address the concerns of all the community (elderly, disabled, school children, workers, businesses, etc.) not just those in favor of unduly restrictive bike lanes.
