Bike Lane Protection
Bike Lane Protection
Bergen St - Franklin Ave - Bedford Ave

Protected bike lane extension to Dean Street (or Eastern Parkway ideally) needed to connect the existing protected lane from Dean St. We need to start building a real network of protected bike lanes for people to use alternative means of transport. Enough with the random stretches of bike lanes that don't connect with each other, focus on connecting them so people actually use them for their commutes!

Significant car speeding in Bedford Avenue making this area unsafe for bike riders and pedestrians, specially in the non-protected stretch between Dean and Eastern Parkway.

Incredibly dangerous crossing both for bike riders and pedestrians in Atlantic Avenue. Significant work needed to improve this intersection for everyone

Parking is abused by people who don’t move for street cleaning and by out of neighborhood Parker’s.

Additional pedestrian protection is needed here as part of the Atlantic Avenue traffic study by the DOT. It’s an incredibly dangerous stretch to cross both for pedestrians and bikers due to the fast traffic, limited visibility and terrible timing of the traffic lights with cars rushing everyone to cross

Extend the protected bike lane beyond Dean Street to connect with Eastern Parkway. I support the Bergen/Dean Bike Boulevard project, but it must prioritize a seamless, protected network connection from Bedford Avenue to Eastern Parkway. Bedford Avenue currently has several high-risk crossings that are dangerous for both cyclists and pedestrians. I urge the DOT to use this project to 'daylight' these intersections and implement concrete protections. A 'bike boulevard' is only effective if it connects to the wider network; please ensure this design bridges the current gap and secures the entire Bedford corridor for all road users

A bike boulevard on Dean and Bergen would be a phenomenal improvement! It’s already such a popular E-W bike corridor and there really aren’t any other alternatives. This would both improve the livability along the streets for the community by reducing through traffic and increase the connectivity between neighborhoods! Really a win win.

The B65 constantly gets stuck here because of gridlock at this short block. Turning cars clog the intersection forcing the bus to sit for multiple light cycles.
