Pedestrian

Atlantic Ave - Bedford Ave - Nostrand Ave

Pedestrian crossing at Atlantic and Nostrand Avenues. This is a very busy pedestrian crossing as many commuters use it every day to get from south of Atlantic to the A/C trains and back. In morning and evening rush hours hundreds of people cross Atlantic Avenue at Nostrand Avenue. The heavy traffic on Atlantic Avenue and the erratic driving down Nostrand Avenue make this intersection very unsafe for pedestrians. This intersection needs a traffic calming redesign to increase pedestrian safety. In context of the planned move of the B65 bus lane to Atlantic Avenue west of Washington Avenue, it would make a lot of sense keeping the bus on Atlantic east of Washington Avenue as well. A bus stop and pedestrian island at Atlantic and Nostrand could naturally act as a "gateway" traffic-calming measure, slowing down heavy truck traffic right where pedestrian vulnerability is high and connect the B65 bus service more closely with the A/C subway service at Nostrand and Fulton Avenues.

East 17 St - Newkirk Ave - Foster Ave

Newkirk plaza desperately needs an elevator. So many families eith young children and disabled people live in this neighbourhood.

East 23 St - Vanderveer Pl - Avenue D

Bus B41 always gets stuck in traffic, so then we always get no busses for 20+ minutes and then 3 busses all at once. Busses need to be spaced more evenly and have a dedicated lane so they don't get so clogged up. Also more busses (B41 is almost always full in our part of flatbush!) And dedicated stroller spots on these busses!

B103 travels such a useful route, yet is so inconsistent in its arrivals.

Newkirk Ave - East 17 St - East 18 St

18th and newkirk (and much of newkirk) could use crossing signals for pedestrians. It’s very difficult to see around the parked cars before crossing

St Pauls Pl - St Pauls Court - East 19 St

Block of St. Pauls from Church Avenue; make St. Paul's a dead end street from the Church Avenue side. Cars and trucks make these left hand turns that just clog up all of Church Avenue.

Caton Ave - Parade Pl - East 17 St

This intersection is the most confusing intersection on Caton. Fix the signaling or get rid of some. It's super confusing for people and cars to navigate.

Church Ave - East 17 St - East 18 St

The B35 has trouble offloading and onloading people. Cars and trucks constantly double park, make dangerous and illegal U-turns. It's absolute chaos here, there no enforcement, there's trash everywhere.

There are always cars and trucks double parking and triple parking in front of Bobby's. It stops everything.

Newkirk plaza subway station needs an elevator! There are tons of families in the areas and the subway is inaccessible to us.
