Big SUVs and big vans frequently park right next to the pedestrian crossing, blocking visibility both for drivers and pedestrians. Why haven’t we already implemented street safety measures in this area when other calmer streets with way less traffic have then? We have a literal thoroughfare cutting across this neighborhood with zero pedestrian safety measures to improve visibility and make crossing the street safer.

Zero measures to protect pedestrian safety in this area despite having a difficult combination of bus lanes, high speed regular traffic, frequent turns and several schools nearby. Implementing daylighting measures, extended curbs and traffic calming initiatives should be a priority.

This stretch combining the Bedford and Roger’s Avenue traffic is a bottleneck and slows down buses. Cars frequently drive on (and even park!) on the bus lane since there is no automated enforcement from the DOT. Painting lanes when you don’t enforce their meaning does very little

The B49 frequently gets stuck in traffic here in Bedford Avenue due to the lack of bus lane. Does it make sense to keep it here when we already have dedicated bus lanes in Roger’s, Nostrand and New York Avenues?

The Grant Gore plaza could be significantly improved by extending the area by removing the few parking spots that are next to the Citybike dock. Including an extended hardened curb with additional planters would make this area way safer for pedestrians
