Drivers on Jay St. will often ignore signage about the Fulton Street busway (or not see it clearly) and make turns. The traffic light should not be a green light and should instead by a single GO STRAIGHT arrow to indicate no turns are allowed here. Additionally light up LED DO NOT ENTER signs should be used to draw attention to drivers that they cannot enter the Fulton Street busway.
Due to the large number of pedestrians at Jay Street and Willoughby Street, drivers coming off of Willoughby constantly force their was through crowds or will make turns on Yellow/red lights tying to get out of the area (due to the large number of people crossing Jay Street blocking turns). This has led to multiple close calls and pedestrian car conflicts. The traffic also backs up down Willoughby Street sometimes to Bridge Street during rush hour due to the number of drivers waiting to make a turn onto Jay Street (off of Willoughby). Drivers could be educated via signage that they can access Jay Street by turning onto Lawrence Street and then onto the Metrotech access street which also has a traffic light at Jay Street and far less pedestrians due to the subway stations being farther away.
Drivers continually block the box after cars have been routed to turn off of Livingston Street (eastbound) and onto Lawerence St. The number of cars here clog the streets and the Stop Sign at Willoughby / Lawrence Street feels inadequate. Additionally drivers are not aware that they can actually continue another block north on Lawrence Street to access Jay St. via the Metrotech access road (turning left at the next block and then onto Jay St.)
There needs to be a light up LED NO RIGHT TURNS sign that is active when the restrictions are in place. Too many drivers do not see or ignore the no right turns sign or do not know if the sign is currently active or not. The current sign has too many days of the week and too many times listed to give time to the drivers to determine if the sign applies to them or not.
The signage for drivers continuing southbound on Jay Street needs to be more clear. The traffic light shows a green light to go any direction and the sign for lane directions always shows that it is okay to continue straight or make turns. There needs to be some dynamic signage (those light up LED signs that you see in Chicago, New Jersey, Washington DC, and tons of other cities) to indicate that drivers can only go left or right (or a do not drive straight) to tell drivers that they must turn. The current signs are so hard to read and know when they do and do not apply to you.
The left turn lane shows a huge left turn arrow traffic light and the signage indicating that left turns are not allowed during certain days of the week / times of day is impossible to read and determine if that time applies to you. There needs to be those light up LED dynamic No left turn signs that you see in Washington DC / Chicago / all over New Jersey and other places in the US. This would make it very clear to drivers when and when you cannot make a left turn here.
Needs much bigger do not enter signs for beginning of busway. Car drivers don't notice them from other side of intersection and busway hours and restrictions are much too small to read.
Police car blocks pedestrian entrance to bridge path forcing pedestrians into bike path. There has to be a better solution than having a police car parked on the sidewalk 24/7.
Hilton Hotel often has vehicles parked in bike lane.
The sidewalk is constantly blocked by cars parked here. Why is this allowed? Is there a new law saying we can park on the sidewalk? It's impossible to walk or even drive past this area because of all the cars on the sidewalk and often double-parked.
