Project Overview

east brooklyn bikes

In 2011, at the request of residents of both Brownsville and East New York, the Department of Transportation and the Department of Health held the first in a multi-year series of workshops  on street safety. The goal was to prioritize a number of streets where the roadway could be redesigned to make conditions safer for pedestrians and cyclists. The first lanes were installed in 2013 and have continued every year since then, with the most recent bike lanes being installed on Van Siclen Avenue in the summer of 2016.

Now is the time to tell us where you want to ride next. To the Jamaica Bay Greenway to the South? Prospect Park to the West? Highland Park to the north? Howard Beach to the east? Bushwick? Ocean Hill? City Line? The movie theater? Use the pages to the right to learn more and let us know!
