Multiple Buses Arrive Together
Multiple Buses Arrive Together
River Ave - East 161 St - East 161 St

The Bx6 NEEDS artics because of the overcrowding that occurs due to bunching issues. Buses often arrive in packs of 2 or 3 buses at a time leading to some buses being overcrowded, while others are almost empty. The bunching issues, combined with traffic congestion just exacerbates the problem further. The frequencies need to be improved in addition the adding artics. All of these things along with payment in advance should help, and there should also be signal priority used on the line to speed up buses. These buses spend too much time at traffic lights and crawl from stop to stop. I often outwalk the Bx6 from the BxM4 express bus to my final destination, which is roughly a 10 - 15 minute walk. Finally, fare enforcement is needed. There is RAMPANT farebeating on this line, which may be causing a lower count of how many people actually use the line and may account for why frequencies aren't as high as they should be.

A SBS bus on the 6 bus line would be very welcome and it would hopefully help with the multiple number of buses that tend to show up together esp. in the mornings. The bus is extemely crowded and we could use the "double long" buses on this route as well like on the 41 SBS line!

This route definitely needs to be revamped to keep up with the growing population of the South Bronx. The buses for this route are too small and always over capacity. SBS is a gteat idea. Express buses can service the main stops such as 161st/River Ave, Third Ave/163rd, Huntspoint etc. My communte is 30 minutes longer due to overcrowed buses. To hear that change will soon come to the Bx6 bus route is wonderful news and long overdue.

Is there any way extending this route to the 157 St 1 train station during late nights?

This bus stop gets rather crowded during peak times. Also, the concrete...roof(?) of the subway station only adds to this crowding for people trying to cross the street to the D train subway entrance. Eliminate the low section barrier?

For Eastbound Bx6-SBS. River Av/161 St is better suited for Bus to Subway transfers.

Instead of westbound buses going directly to the overpass after River Av/161 St, how about it looping around via Jerome Av and adding a stop on Anderson Av. It could better serve people who live in the area coming from parts east.

Do we really need a stop on Jerome Av/ Ogden Av and another one around the corner?

During Yankee Games it can get very hectic and traffic gets jammed. Possibly have traffic cops to mitigate pedestrian traffic.

Definite bottlenecking point, especially if the Major Deegan Expy has major traffic.
