Atlantic Basin Connector Project presented to CB 6 Transportation Committee

At last night’s Community Board 6 Transportation Committee meeting, DOT presented a proposal to extend the Brooklyn Waterfront Greenway from Van Brunt Street to Valentino Park, providing access to the waterfront at Atlantic Basin. The route uses Summit Street and Imlay Street, travels through the Basin from Verona Street to Conover Street, and then connects to the park via Conover Street, King/Sullivan Street, and Ferris Street.  It requires the one-way conversion of the streets along some sections of the route.  DOT also proposed the addition of shared lane markings on Van Brunt Street and potential one-way conversion of one block of Reed Street and of Beard Street in response to community requests.

The Committee voted unanimously in favor of the proposal to extend the Greenway south.
