This is a dangerous intersection for pedestrians when walking west on Metropolitan and crossing North 4th Street. The cars make a shallow, blind right-hand turn and pedestrians do not always see them coming from behind them. Signage or daylighting the corner could help
Vehicles routinely run the red light here, particularly during morning rush/school hours. Vehicles traveling north on Rodney/Meeker gun their engines, as do vehicles making the left turn from Metropolitan Ave to Meeker, because traffic backs up so bad they want to beat the oncoming light. Pedestrians crossing Meeker are thus subject to erratic and dangerous driver behavior and must dodge vehicles when pedestrians have the right of way.
Cars parking at this corner block visibility of right hand turns onto Keap St, dangerous shallow turn is taken at high speed. Parking should be eliminated/daylighted
There have been numerous accidents at this intersection throughout the years, even multiple accidents occurring on the same day, just hours apart. The last few accidents that I am aware of happened on March 26, 2017 around 12pm and before that, Sunday March, 12 around 2:30pm. When cars are crossing Bedford Ave. from S.3rd OR making a left turn, they can't see oncoming traffic heading north on Bedford. It is a very dangerous blind spot! Bedford Avenue either needs a stop sign or a traffic light at this intersection ASAP.
Knickerbocker is two way North of Johnson, One way headed North South of Johnson. Southbound drivers turning left onto Johnson have no way of knowing that their light is not timed the same as Northbound drivers. As a result, the usual set of red light runners are turning left, thinking that oncoming traffic will stop. But northbound drivers still have a green light.
Northbound traffic from Kingsland turning West onto Meeker can't see/doesn't look for pedestrians in the crosswalk. The intersection is very large with a confusing division of the lanes, drivers feel as if they are already out of the intersection when they are approaching the poorly lit crosswalk.
It takes forever to get the light to cross the road. I end up walking down to the next streetlight.
The construction zone has pushed the sidewalk into the road, on a street where drivers are driving very fast with multiple cars spanning a single lane. The temporary sidewalk is frequently pushed in, or inaccessible due to snow or ice.
As a pedestrian, it's very hard to cross this street. Drivers turning right from Marcy onto Borinquen turn very fast & do not yield to pedestrians. There are few corners in Williamsburg I fear for my life, but this is one of them.
There is no crosswalk, despite there being businesses on all corners of the intersections, which means crossing the street takes a lot longer than it needs to, and drivers do not yield to pedestrians, even if they are about to cross.
