Add bike lanes to Lefferts
NYC DOT is looking to improve safety for students who walk, bike, and ride in the neighborhood. To learn more about the project visit the Project Overview page or review the Community Board Presentation.
Please use this map to share any existing safety or transportation concerns in the project area, as well as your ideas for how DOT can improve safety on Brooklyn Ave and Kingston Ave. Your feedback will help inform the project design and improve safety for students!
Add bike lanes to Lefferts
Upgrade Empire Blvd to protected bike lanes. Painted median is waste of space and just promotes speeding.
Bike lane should continue entire length of Winthrop St
Add pedestrian crossing at Brooklyn and Hawthorne to improve access to park
Add pedestrian crossing at Brooklyn and Fenimoire to improve access to park
The block of Fenimore between Brooklyn and NY Ave is wider than the rest of the corridor (34' vs 30') and could accommodate a protected bike lane in front of PS 397.
Cars often don't stop for people (and especially students!) crossing here. I've seen a lot of near misses.
As there is no crosswalk or light on Hawthorne to get from one side of Flatbush to the other this is normally the crosswalk I take to access the local B41 stop at Chester ct. the cars turning left onto Flatbush from Fenimore do not wait for pedestrians to cross before turning. This crosswalk should definitely receive daylighting measures to lessen the pressure for pedestrians to cross and avoid being hit by inpatient drivers.
Drivers speed like crazy here and do not stop at red lights. Fully support protected bike lanes but also daylighting every intersection in this area.
Consistent failure to yield to pedestrians here.
