NYC DOT is looking to improve safety for students who walk, bike, and ride in the neighborhood. To learn more about the project visit the Project Overview page or review the Community Board Presentation.

Failure to Yield

Rutland Rd - Flatbush Ave - Bedford Ave

I experience near-hits here all the time from cars making left turns onto Rutland at great speeds, ignoring pedestrians. Not safe.

Empire Boulevard - New York Ave - Brooklyn Ave

Empire Blvd should be a concrete barrier protected two-way bike lane connected East/West. Otherwise these new protect bike lanes don't lead to anywhere useful.

Rutland Rd - Flatbush Ave - Bedford Ave

Both of these proposed bike lanes lead to nowhere (in terms of biking). There is no bike lane on Flatbush Ave, and no safe space to bike there. It doesn't connect to Prospect Park either.

This needs to be a PROTECTED bike lane. Aggressive drivers in this neighborhood I would never let my kids bike here without a protected lane.

Unsafe Crossing

Chester Court - Flatbush Ave - Deadend

It's unclear that this driveway requires a walk signal. It feels like a sidewalk and then cars drive onto it. The pedestrian walk signal is offset from the road and covered by branches in the summer.

Empire Boulevard - Lamont Court - Kingston Ave

Please make the part of empire a parking protected bike lane. There is ample space and you don't have to eliminate parking.
