As a resident of Bergen street, I am heavily in favor of making this residential street less polluted, less dangerous and less of an eyesore. Removing the cars in favor of bicycles is a very welcome change. - As someone who experiences it daily, I am increasingly upset at the levels of pollution that car drivers inflict on Bergen St (and Bond St), especially on Mondays and Tuesdays when dozens of drivers sit idling in their cars for 2 hours with the engine on. It feels like a sewer for cars these days, especially at rush hour. - Cars should be on Atlantic Avenue, buses should be on Atlantic Ave. Bicycles should have their own thoroughfares free of cars. Cars and buses are essential but not EVERY street in this city has to be given over to them. - The young woman who was the manager of Anais would still be alive if cyclists could traverse the city without being hit by cars. Personally, there is no way I am going to start cycling around the city until cars are literally unable to access bike routes. Mixing them up is absurd. - There is no reason, except for inertia, that people should be allowed to keep their private property - especially ugly, polluting property that serves only one individual's needs - in our common spaces at no charge and for months on end. I would rather have bicycles, additional greenery, and seating instead of storage space for black and grey machines that befoul the air.
