Improved cycling infrastructure benefits everyone, including motorists. I only use my car in the neighborhood when I don't have a safe and easy way to bike to my destination. Building better bike routes literally takes cars off of the road and frees up parking spaces for those who actually need them, rather than those who just can't be bothered to use alternatives.

Bike boulevard/traffic calming is desperately needed here. Painted lane/intermixing is unsafe. As a car owner, 99% of street space in this neighborhood is already given to private vehicles and storing them for free, subsidized by the city. Bike boulevards/traffic calming measures discourage double parking, which is the number one cause of congestion on these streets.

Area needs hardened daylighting. Paint is not enough and cars still park in daylighted area.

Atlantic Ave - St James Pl - Washington Ave

Need better daylighting at this corner. Cars regularly speed from Atlantic onto St. James. And cars from St. James coming onto Atlantic rarely look for pedestrians.

This type of traffic calming and bike-friendly design is sorely needed on these particular stretches, which are the only viable micromobility arteries in the neighborhood. We don't need any more subsidized personal vehicle storage on these streets. Redesign will make traffic flow more smoothly (discourages double-parking, the main cause of congestion) and will improve safety for pedestrians, motorists, and cyclists.

Dean St - Carlton Ave - Vanderbilt Ave

This stretch of Dean street has been rendered entirely unusable due to a combination of endless construction, illegal double parking, and no provided alternative.

Bergen St - Carlton Ave - Vanderbilt Ave

Bergen along this stretch is very wide, so cars tend to speed to try to make the light at Carlton.

Difficult Turn/Crossing
Difficult Turn/Crossing
4 Ave - Dean St - Bergen St

Crossing 4th Ave by bike on Bergen Street can be hairy, especially with cars turning left onto 4th off Bergen, crossing the bike lane in the process.

We want a bike lane! Desperately! Thank you DOT!

I am not in favor the bike boulevard. We deal with an already competitive parking situation in this neighborhood, further complicated by twice a week street cleaning (that often skips our street, but tickets are dispensed anyway) and further restricting parking access for local residents is not the solution. In addition to the parking challenges, I have had numerous occasions cross the street with my dog, with cyclists running the red light and speeding down our block, nearly hitting us. The cyclist traffic has become as dangerous as car traffic.
