Truly the worst section for riding a bike on Dean. Just terribly paved. Creating a boulevard needs to take into account how the road is designed and paved for cyclists and how each type of traffic on that road affects (and costs) the paved sections. (Cars have a high impact to a paved surface in comparison to bikes or pedestrians, resulting in a higher cost of maintenance overall).

I love the idea of a bike boulevard this is really fantastic for the Brooklyn and New York. I would love to make sure that we also consider our Transit friends as well, and make sure that they is also priority for folks who use the bus daily. Creating a bike boulevard shouldn't also come at a loss of transit priority on these routes. My suggestion would be to bikes to have priority and dedicated bus traffic well (in respective directions). Remove street parking completely to allow the expansion of the road. And additionally, I would love to see the sidewalks accomodated to meet the redesign of the street for a bike boulevard. Pedestrians, Transit users, bike users all benefits from the boulevards and care should be take to ensure there is a benefit across to all those.

There are two elementary schools on Dean in just a couple of short blocks thru a residential neighborhood -- already lots of traffic, bikes, double parking, street parking, school buses, school crossings, pedestrians, school pick ups/drop offs. Plus Dean is a major street used for deliveries, ambulances etc. instead of Atlantic. I fear this "bike boulevard" project would prioritize bikes over every other use in this particular stretch. One size does not fit all in terms of making things "better" and safer. Plus what would be the impact of this project for the people who actual live along this route, not just for those passing thru.

We dont want a stupid bike lane here

Seems like no matter what, there's always cars (especially taxis) parked in the bike lane during the PM commute

It would be cool if there was some kind of treatment to allow "right turn yield on red", since the Smith Street bike lane is usually empty and cyclists can turn right from Bergen onto Smith without conflicting with cars, and many cyclists are taking this route during the AM commute

This is a heavily commercial block - both in terms of commercial businesses with delivery needs, warehouses, driveways, garages, PD and FD parking, a protected lane does not belong on this block.
