Dean & Bergen Streets

It would be nice if the signals were timed in a way so that I could bike through this intersection and still make the light at Flatbush. I frequently have to stop at both 5th and Flatbush, which is a long time to wait for such a small block. Thanks for doing this study -- fully support bike/ped improvements on these cooridors.
As a cyclist who lives south of Prospect Park and commutes via bike to work in Downtown Brooklyn nearly every day, I can say with certainty that there are very few good, safe routes to get me where I need to go. The layout of the streets in this area means that I'm constantly choosing between blocked 1-ways streets and bike lanes that have double-parked cars in them. A protected way to easily get from one side of this area to the other would immensely improve the safety and navigability of the area!
The protected bike lane on the SE corner here is continuously parked in by cops with placards and MTA vehicles. The plastic barriers that were there have been removed because they were broken — but they were intentionally broken by people who wish to use the bike lane as their personal parking spot.
Love the idea of safer/clearer bike lanes!! I want to express my hope that bike lanes remain where they are here VS moving closer to the curb. The reasoning here is that both sides of this street have parking for the residents and if the lanes were to move curbside and push the parking further into the road, then any cars stopped for loading/unloading would effectively block the flow of traffic. If we can improve bike saftey without moving the lanes (i.e. repainting, adding speed bumps, adding clear intersection paths), then I think that would be a win for both residents who park their cars here and residents who will bike to court st with kiddos (I personally fall into both camps!)
Feels really narrow and with no clear bike lane but lots of bike users using this to get onto the bike route section of dean. Not much space for bikes to ride or to wait at the intersection to cross into the bike lane on the next block. Would be great to remove parking and add an actual bike lane to this block or at least space near the intersection of Smith for bikes to wait at the light up front instead of in traffic with cars.
This two block stretch of Bergen (Flatbush to 4th Ave) is congested, often blocked by buses or large trucks who can't pass stopped vehicles, so loud from honking, and unsafe for bikers and pedestrians. Please remove it from the allowable large truck route map. Please reroute the buses (B63 and B65) to commercial streets which is where people want to go, to encourage bikes and walkability rather than a drive-through environment.
So many people turn right here to get to the bridges, but it feels hard squeezing in between parked cars on the right and cars in the driving lane to turn right. Would be nice to have the bike box crossing thing below the crosswalk so it's clear what bikes should do.
I'm not sure what it is but it feels like cars really speed down this street and make it feel scary and unsafe to bike on. Would love a speed hump or way to slow traffic down to make biking more enjoyable and safer.
This part of the street always feels narrow with cars driving quickly and making this slight turn onto Bergen. The bike lane often gets driven in, and then as you approach 5th ave it sort of dissapears and cars take over and you have to weasel your way through them and fight to own the bike lane.
