It's difficult to comment without knowing details of the proposal. Very important to share the details and ask for comments before plan is finalized. I am in favor of biking that is safe and respectful of others. Residents of the block need to have access to their homes with cars (their own or taxis and ride shares,)

The 65 Bus is needed here for travel. Removal of bus discriminates against elderly and disabled who cannot go up and down subway steps. Putting it on Atlantic cause more traffic problems and is not fair to people who live gere.

Red Light Running

Huge problem with bikers running red lights and making turns in front of cars who have the green light. Bikers need to be held accountable and follow traffic laws. They should be required to have license plates so that they can be held accountable and decrease hit and runs of pedestrians by cyclists.

I believe the proposal for the Bergen Dean Bike Boulevard will have a negative impact on this community. Congesting already busy streets by removing a lane of parking and narrowing driving space will make deliveries impossible. Where will trucks park for deliveries? In the middle of the street? Then all traffic behind them is stuck til delivery is complete. How will emergency vehicles pass when cars and delivery trucks are all jammed up polluting our air from idling. Studies are already showing higher rates of asthma in areas where streetpac and low density streets proposals have been implemented.

Bike Boulevard is not a good fit for this neighborhood! We were left out of the conversation when community board 6 has known about it for 6 months and hid information. We already have a bike lane and too much parking loss from bike hubs and school zone. Removal of 65 is hugely problematic for commute to school for children, teachers, elderly, disabled . You can’t ride bikes much of the winter so it doesn’t meke sense to displace everyone else. We don’t want to slow down or congest our streets anymore than they already are.. Roads are for travel not for cutsey bike lianes and plazas in the middle of the street.

Proposed bike boulevard creates accessibility hazards by removing 65 buss which is life line to this area. It also causes problems for Access-a-ride vehicles to park. It removes coveted parking spots and will have devastating consequences for 3 major churches on Dean Street including Bedford Central Presbyterian Church, union United, Methodist Church and Hebron 7th Day Adventist Church. It is horrendous the needs of the elderly, disabled, homeowners, and people of faith are completely disregarded by a few loud, well connected people who do not even live in our neighborhood!

I am strongly opposed to Bergen Dean Bike Boulevard proposal. It is poorly thought out and unfairly favors the whims of the Bergen Bike Bus and Eric McClure, over the needs of the people who actually live in our neighborhood. Our community is one that includes legacy homeowners, elderly, disabled, multiple faith centers, all of whom will be devastated if this bike boulevard were to proceed. The streets are not wide enough to accommodate a protected bike lane which takes up More space than the existing and working bike lane we already have. A protected bike lane would inevitably require removing an entire lane of parking in a neighborhood where parking is already difficult due to Brooklyn Children’s Museum which brings in tons of traffic. There is farmer’s market that removed 8 parking spots for 2-3 small tents. There are now excessive citi bike hubs , some literally two blocks apart, that have ripped away so many parking spots without the consent of our community board. This has created an epidemic of double parking which is now being used to justify their goal to remove more parking! This bike boulevard would destroy our communities of faith whose members rely on the 65 bus, cars and parking to attend our churches, synagogues and mosques. It disregards and disrespects home owners who pay the majority of taxes that keep increasing at exorbitant rates. How are we supposed to maintain our properties when we can no longer drive to home depot or Lowes, or shop our our large families. Why should DOT and Streetpac be allowed to decide whether or not we deserve to own vehicles? If they care about the environment, why aren’t they incentivizing electric and hydrogen cars by putting multiple charging stations at large gas stations and/or under the LIE on Atlantic Avenues instead of placing a couple here and there that just remove more parking spots and may take 4-5 days to be able to charge due to high demand? NO BERGEN BIKE BOULEVARD!!!!
