Dean & Bergen Streets
This is a high-car traffic intersection where running red lights appears to be an ongoing problem - a protected bike line would improve safety for cyclists.
This is a high-pedestrian traffic area connecting City Point and Schermerhorn station that would be much better used for local traffic / both-direction bike lane. Current car traffic appears to use this street as a shortcut from Flatbush to Atlantic (where Nevins / 4th Ave appear to be as sufficient capacity corridors)
This is a gap in cycling infrastructure to allow protected/designated bike lane travel from Brooklyn Bridge Park / waterfront area towards east corridors.
There is a critical cycling infrastructure gap for an east-west corridor to allow access from BK Heights / Atlantic / Downtown area to Brooklyn Bridge park
Unprotected bike lane is in the middle of a high-car traffic area and leading to an extremely busy intersection with lack of traffic law enforcement (running red lights, illegal turns, double-parking) makes this an extremely dangerous section with limited alternative routes
This is a critical gap in north-south cycling infrastructure from Albee Square park / Metrotech area (with bike lane alternatives being available on Jay St/Boreum, which are both high-car traffic corridors)
Cars parked all the way to the Atlantic Ave + double-parked cars + cars driving in the bike line create unsafe conditions for piled up bikers when waiting for green line to cross Atlantic Ave
This is one of the few available access points to City Point are (both commercial, food hall, residential), yet illegally parked & double-parked traffic, combined with narrow sidewalks makes it difficult for both bikers and pedestrians to safely travel through this space.
This is another location where NYPD illegally park their personal vehicles on the sidewalk and in crosswalks with no regard for the safety of pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers who use this street. Something needs to be done to get their cars off the sidewalk because it is extremely dangerous.
As part of the MTA’s Brooklyn Bus Network Redesign and concurrent with so-called "street safety improvements"(specifically the development of Bergen and Dean Street Bike Boulevards)there are key changes to B65 Service : the existing B65 service on Dean Street and Bergen Street west of Washington Avenue is proposed to be discontinued...buses are relied upon -demographically by elders and the disabled...this is MINDLESS -MEAN-SPIRITED AGEIST CRUELTY-IT'S INTOLERABLE -for bike bro's? For the less than 3% bike commuters in NYC?
