Outdoor dining doesn’t leave space for 2 people to walk on the curbside.
Police station around the corner leaves cars abandoned here and then routinely double parks creating a tight bottle neck on a very busy intersection
Not an issue but an improvement if bike parkings were installed on car parking spots at the corner. Same as citi bike parkings. This will make more room on the busy sidewalks, especially as delivery bikes are parked close to restaurants (which already take space for their outdoor dining. These could be installed at corners and make intersection safer (no cars blocking the view for pedestrians and drivers).
Police have taken over the sidewalk with parked cars, making it difficult to pass . Despite the fact that they have a great deal of reserved parking and a private parking lot.
Everyday there are multiple cars parked on the sidewalk, sometimes they are parked so far onto the sidewalk that I cannot get by with a stroller and have to go into the street. 311 reports get closed out right away with no action and it's allowed to continue
Différent crossing patters than other streets makes it very unsafe for pedestrians heading north. Cars cut to turn right very fast. Pedestrians cross at red.
Bikers using the protected bike lanes on Amsterdam almost never respect traffic signals and routinely almost run over pedestrians who are trying to cross Amsterdam.
Taking the M7 and M11 down Columbus is often extremely slow (slower than walking). The buses often have a hard time merging in and out of traffic to make stops.
The stoplight pattern is different at the 81st/Amsterdam intersection compared to all of the other Amsterdam intersections. People often try to jaywalk between the NE and SE corners, but cars take the right turn from Amsterdam onto 81st extremely fast and risk running people over constantly. There are also often cars/trucks parked on Amsterdam that make it hard to see oncoming traffic as a pedestrian (to gauge whether or not it's safe to jaywalk).
Taking the M7 or M11 up Amsterdam during rush hour (~4pm-6pm) is extremely slow, to the point where I usually opt for walking because it's actually faster than sitting on the bus in traffic.
