It's almost impossible to walk down this block with a stroller as the sidewalk is fenced off for extra police parking. I have, and seen other people, tripped on these fences.
Crossing 81st St. on the museum side feels very unsafe. The walk signal is very short and the traffic pattern has cars coming from every direction.
It feel very dangerous to cross streets when cars are parked all the way up to the cross walk. It's nearly impossible to watch for cars coming quickly down the block
Bike riders don’t obey traffic lights and race through while pedestrians are crossing. There needs to either be a larger more obvious traffic light just for bike riders or the city needs to enforce more strongly and start ticketing bikers
Cops illegally parking constantly and nobody does anything about it. They can take the train to work like everyone else!
The cars and e-bikes make crossing Broadway so dangerous and scary, especially when they run red lights. Most people I know love living in New York because we love to walk. Please let's reduce car use, no more free street parking, and convert more of this public space for pedestrians and bicyclists. E-bikes are better than cars, but if e-bikes are to co-exist with us pedestrians and normal bicyclists happily, then let's find a way to do so that's safe -- and make sure to have repercussions for bad behavior.
Commercial loading zones are blocked by dining sheds in this stretch of Amsterdam Avenue, forcing delivery trucks to double park in travel lanes. Remove dining sheds to allow for proper commercial loading/unloading. Extend sidewalks so outdoor dining can take place on existing sidewalks instead of in loading zones.
There are almost always cars parked on this part of Amsterdam Ave with a unofficial placard claiming they're related to the funeral home here. There's no reason we should allow illegal parking for one private business on one of the busiest corridors in the city.
There are always trucks loading and unloading on the east side of Columbus here. There's no reason to allow parking on the avenue, we should just get rid of the parking spaces for 3 or 4 private vehicles and make these 24/7 truck loading spots with hefty fines for violations. There are far too many parking spots on such a dense corridor anyway
Extend sidewalks on Amsterdam Avenue. Sidewalk space is narrow due to outdoor dining on Amsterdam Avenue.
