trucks are frequently illegally parked here, causing issues for turning busses. NYPD doesn't care.
Service station employees constantly park vehicles on the sidewalk here, along Huron Street. 311 complaints are falsely closed out by NYPD (which is a felony, by the way).
Customers/workers at this service station frequently drive up the pedestrian ramp on the sidewalk here (north west corner of Huron/McG), endangering pedestrians.
McGuinness Blvd is a car sewer, not the urban boulevard that it could and should be. How would we shape the right-of-way if our goal were to encourage Greenpointers to spend time on and around McGuinness? If our goal is merely to make McGuiness less hostile, that implies that "car sewer" is the default, when the default should be "neighborhood amenity."
Pulaski Bridge appears to be over-sized vs the amount and type of automotive traffic that takes it nowadays and vs the relative confinement of the surrounding street grid. The wide-open feeling encourages speeding. (Have felt this as a driver, myself.)
Consider using a roundabout instead of a signal here. Drivers speed off the bridge generally, and even more to catch a signal. There's sufficient right of way for a single-lane roundabout, per Federal Highway Administration guidelines. More cost-effective for the city to maintain (vs a streetlight). Would be an effective way to improve safety and mobility at the same time.
Speeding is very excessive and common here coming and going to BQE.
Line going into car wash causes traffic, beeping of horns.
Speeding drivers coming of McGuinness Blvd very often do not stop and roll right through the stop sign here.
Bike lane is needed to reduce speeding/danger on a street that has become much more residential.
