Very dangerous left turn for drivers as well as pedestrians. Need to put a left turn light.
Protected bike lanes, lower the speed limit, and address the issue regarding the dangerous entrance to the Pulaski bridge for bikers/pedestrians (on both sides, queens too,it's a bottleneck).. This neighborhood has changed so much over the years, it no longer needs a death trap highway to cut it in half. Fixing this will boost the economy of eastern Greenpoint and the surrounding area also.
Induced demand effect from too many lanes of traffic here. Makes it very difficult for any biker to feel comfortable, especially novice bikers to use this thoroughfare (especially going to/from the Pulaski or Greenpoint Ave bridges).
Good candidate for Off-Hour Deliveries on this block given the amount of double parked trucks during peak business hours.
Flooding area. This street is underutilized, partially because of the flooding conditions. There is flooding at this spot and up a block or two towards Greenpoint Ave. Potential rain garden area for DEP at this specific spot.
Lots of car/truck backup. If a single car (or delivery truck) is double parked, which often there is, often trucks and cars get backed up--causing lots of noise, idling vehicles, and anger. May be a good option to make one lane of parking nighttime parking only.
Lots of idling trucks in the morning -- many stores accepting deliveries. Would be a good spot for a loading zone.
McGuinness Boulevard is a two lane in each direction road that is a very important commercial thoroughfare for the entire region. This road was never designed or meant to be used by bicycle riders. There are plenty of side streets that have bicycle lanes already and are much safer for bicycle riders. Removing lanes from McGuinness Boulevard will create a traffic nightmare for the neighborhood. The boulevard will be backed up from Meeker Avenue all the way to the Pulaski Bridge and it will be almost impossible to turn onto or off of McGuinness Blvd. from any of the connecting arteries not to mention the issues it will create for the fire department on Greenpoint Avenue, and any other emergency vehicles
Very dangerous intersection!
A protected bike lane on McGuinees Boulevard would definitely make for safer conditions for cyclists but also for pedestrians and motorists using the street.
