Add 2-way protected bike lane on North Curb of Greenpoint Avenue from West Street, east across Greenpoint Ave Bridge into Queens.
Add 2-way protected bike lane on east curb of Vandervoort Avenue, straight down to Grand Street.
Red light often run by drivers going to entrance to BQE. Problem for 20 years at least
Trucks speed down Greenpoint Ave in both directions, this stretch of road, particularly between Manhattan and McGuiness, would really benefit from speed cameras or traffic calming measures.
For cyclists coming to Pulaski bike lane from South, it is necessary to cycle wrong way on the road here, or to use sidewalk. Better connection (designated cycle lane) to Pulaski bike lane from East and South directions would be much safer.
Drivers come off the BQE and drive on Driggs like they're still on the expressway. Bring back the Open Street
Southern median is useless space here, just concrete. With fewer lanes, we don't need space to wait while crossing, so wider sidewalks with benches would be better
With lanes travel lanes removed from McGuinness, we don't need as many lanes on the Pulaski either. Widen the pedestrian and bike paths on the bridge for comfort and so parents can bike side-by-side with children. Fix the Queens side of the bridge too, with safe connections and clearer signs.
Lots of speeding traffic that often does not slow down - beginning from Meserole to Nassau there is a lot of pedestrian traffic crossing McGuinness that is put at high risk. In addition to cameras for speeding believe that speed bumps would be life saving.
Drivers coming off the Pulaski bridge regularly speed and only slow down if the stop light forces them to. Could we add speed bumps or something to slow things down or reduce the green light interval?
