Several parked cars were damaged here around Monday 8/15 by a reckless driver, likely a hit and run. Traffic violations on McGuinness happen regularly. I observe it every day as a resident who lives on McGuinness. I feel bad for my neighbors who now have to replace their cars, and mad that we as a community have waited so long for these improvements. Please reduce this busy roadway to one lane in each direction and provide other speed curtailing measures so drivers can't rip down this roadway like it's their personal playground at all hours.
Sidewalk on McGuinness around the school is too narrow. Parents cluster around at pick up and drop off. And there are no planted trees because there's not enough space for them. Two strollers going opposite ways can barely squeeze by each other. Please expand it!
There are too many lanes of traffic here, making it very long and dangerous to cross. This is very close to a recent fatality. There are 3 lanes of traffic southbound and 2 northbound which is ridiculous given the amount of pedestrian (including schoolchildren) and cyclist traffic.
I live on Humboldt and Withers. There is a constant flow of very fast moving traffic it has gotten significantly worse in the past few years. Lots of it is through truck traffic. This entire stretch of street needs to be slowed down dramatically — and changes need to be made to reroute traffic out of this neighborhood street elsewhere.
Please excuse the typos on previous comment - “resist” was meant to say “redesign” and “sprout” was meant to say “block”
You can cross Meeker all the way to the Corner of Lentol Garden, but then you are stuck between two BQE on ramps. There should either be sidewalk implemented here, or better signage to let you know this is not pedestrian accessible.
This section of Herbert street is where McGuiness turns into a one lane, one way residential street, with the addition of traffic from the BQE exit ramp. It is almost impossible to cross Richardson here, as cars and trucks speed off the BQE exit ramp or out from McGuiness as soon as the light on Herbert changes. Any vision as a pedestrian/car crossing is blocked by parking on both side of Herbert and it feels like you're taking a risk every time you cross. There are no stop signs from the light on Herbert until Jackson St. and cars and trucks routinely speed down the street until that point.
Please consider all of the residents in this “resists” that transportation alternatives have initiated for their own pro bike/anti car agenda in the name of safety - this will affect all residents, young, elderly, disabled, workers, businesses and families. If safety is truly the concern, adding traffic lights at both ends of the boulevard- exiting the Pulaski on to the boulevard, and entering the BQE- with more clear lanes and traffic control, will address that. Even perhaps a traffic signal in the Pulaski bride itself. Visable speed limit signs to remind drivers of the 25mph limit could also be helpful. The ideas such as of the widening the sidewalk - completely unnecessary as there is very little usage of the footpaths since there are mostly residences and not local businesses on this street, as opposed to the surrounding streets which get much more foot traffic, removing a car lane and parking would greatly affect the local residents and a larger surrounding area - more traffic - idling cars, cars looking for parking on the surrounding streets..this is a street that connects many areas Brooklyn to queens, to Manhattan, and is a necessary route as well as a coastal evacuation route and needs to have traffic flow and safety. There is a grocery store that is an essential business that serves the community on this street and need to have access to its loading bay and not sprout the rest of the traffic, as well as gas stations that need cars to be able to enter and exit.
This is a truck loading area for my grocery store key food. What will happen if you put a bike lane there? McGuiness is a truck route
Raised crosswalk please!!!
