This could be a major route from Midwood to Marine Park but motorists on Ave N need some taming and the Nostrand/Kings Hwy area is totally bike-unfriendly.
Build a proper (for cyclist purposes) T intersection connecting the alleyway between the NYPD building and sports fields with Caton (be that a new path on Caton or just the existing roadway) to facilitate bike traffic from Park Circle into Westminster, Rugby, etc.
This turn from Lincoln (coming from Prospect Park) onto Washington (e.g., to continue eastbound on Lefferts) is unnecessarily dangerous following a somewhat recent curb redesign. Install eastbound (counterflow) bike lane on the few feet of Lincoln between Flatbush and Washington.
The bike lane on the east side of Ocean Pkwy between Caton and Park Circle, as well as at the intersection with Caton Ave, are in disrepair and dangerous. Remove parking spaces on the east side of Ocean at Caton to create more visibility for bicyclists and pedestrians, and fix the pavement that is in disrepair.
There needs to be a bike lane connecting the bike lane already on Bedford Avenue and the SW entrance of Prospect Park. Clarkson Avenue would be the ideal route.
Bike lane going from the Park to the 2 hospitals all the way to Remsen Avenue.
Newkirk Ave should have protected bike lanes to connect the 18th Ave F train to the Newkirk Ave B/Q and Newkirk Ave 2/3 train stops. This would provide a safe and convenient connection between THREE train lines that go through Brooklyn. A missed opportunity currently.
Ocean Avenue should have protected bike lanes going in both directions to provide a safe north-south route from Prospect Park down to the new protected bike lane along Emmons Ave in Sheepshead Bay. This would be a fantastic connection between Prospect Park and the Jamaica Bay Greenway. Currently, this road is dangerous for both pedestrians/cyclists and drivers, due to reckless drivers and speeding.
PLEASE extend the protected bike lane on Bedford Ave, currently proposed in Prospect Heights, down all the way to Sheepshead Bay. There are often reckless and speeding drivers along this route, and many cyclists are put in harm's way due to the lack of a protected lane. The current proposal falls short of protecting the entire bike lane and is a serious equity issue.
East 14th street should have a protected one-way bike lane to provide a north-south connection on a relatively quieter street to connect Kings Highway in the South to the LIRR cut in the north, where the bike lane already exists north of the cut on Rugby Road.
