More on street parking is badly needed throughout Brighton Beach.
The entire lenght of Beach Walk is Marked No Standing Fire Zone, Authorized Vehicles Only,. It is th eonly way that fire engines can access the rear of four high rise buildings. But it is frequently packed with illegally parked cars, especially in summer.
Very dangerous intersection. Westbound Brighton Beach Ave. is clogged with double parked cars and delivery trucks, narrowing traffic to one lane. Eastbound Brighton Beach Ave. is clogged with double parked cars and lines of ambulettes dropping off and picking up people from adult day cares and social service organizations. There are also two bus lines (B 68 & B1) that have to try navigate this mess. When you turn from Brighton Beach Ave. onto northbound Ocean Pkwy, the supports of the elevated train obscure views of the pedestrians crosing Ocean Pkwy. If you are an observant driver and yield to pedestrians, the drivers in back of you will just go around you. If you are on southgbound Ocean Pkwy trying to turn onto eastbound Brighton Beach Ave., drivers simply ignore the turn signal or use the center through traffic lane as a second turning lane.
All attempts to improve this intersection have failed It is a chaotic mess of pedestrians ignoring walk signals, turning buses, double parked cars and cars trting to inch through the intersection while avoiding the pedestrians, buses, double parked cars and other cars that are trying to make turns.
There is a no standing sign for school busing on the left side. The school has never put students on the bus at that location. Can this be removed to give the community more space?
I am requesting the installation of a traffic light at Ocean View Avenue and Brighton 6th Street and/or Brighton 7th Street in Brighton Beach, Brooklyn. These intersections serve as primary crosswalks for students attending our local elementary school. Currently, there is only one crossing guard stationed at Brighton 6th Street, and drivers frequently ignore the stop signs and fail to yield to pedestrians. Vehicles routinely run through the intersection, creating a dangerous situation for children and families. Given the high volume of traffic on Ocean View Avenue and the City’s ongoing staffing shortages of crossing guards, a traffic signal is urgently needed to improve pedestrian safety and ensure drivers comply with traffic laws. The safety of our children should not depend solely on a single crossing guard. A traffic light would significantly reduce the risk of injury and help protect students walking to and from school each day. I respectfully request that the City conduct a traffic study immediately and prioritize the installation of a traffic signal at this location.
I are writing to urgently request the installation of an ADA-compliant elevator at the Brighton Beach subway station, particularly at the Brighton 7th Street entrance. My community has a significant population of elderly and disabled residents who rely on public transportation. The current access point at Brighton 7th Street is extremely narrow, not usable for individuals with walkers or mobility devices, and does not provide accessible access to the platform. There have been multiple incidents of individuals falling down the stairs. Additionally, many disabled residents are forced to take a bus to another station that has elevator access, significantly increasing travel time and creating unnecessary hardship. This situation raises serious safety concerns and highlights the urgent need for ADA compliance. We respectfully request that accessibility improvements, including elevator installation, be prioritized as soon as possible. Brighton Beach residents deserve safe and equal access to public transportation.
Why are there No Standing signs on West 36th Street between Surf Avenue and the Boardwalk? Can they be removed so there will be available street parking?

Double parked cars in front of Memories Cafe. In the summer time, when there is Dining Out NYC, their tables and chairs block the parking spots and people park next to the cafe.
