People often speed on this street and do not stop on the red light. It is highly unsafe. People are constantly parking on the crosswalk and families have a hard time crossing from the train station.

Since removing the ticket booth, the Ocean Pkwy station, esp. West entrance, is absolutely disgusting. It is dirty and smells and often has homeless or drunk/drugged people. I’ve not commuted via that station, the closest to my home, for years because of it.

Please bring Citi Bikes here! Southern Brooklynites ALSO DESERVE access to cheap, healthy and enviromentally sustainable form of public transportation!

Brighton Beach Ave - Brighton 1 St - Brighton 1 Rd - Brooklyn

Brighton Beach Avenue sidewalks (from Ocean Parkway to Coney Island Avenue) are dangerously crowded with merchandise, trash, and illegal vendors on the sidewalk outside local stores. Two people cannot pass without coming into contact with these obstructions. Seniors in wheelchairs with health aides or walking with rollators cannot pass, along with local students, visitors and public services. To boot, e-bikes and scooters try to pass, with rats, vermin, and vagrants on the same cramped, dirty sidewalks. Please clear Brighton Beach Avenue sidewalks, hold merchants accountable for their storefronts so we can maintain public health and safety. Further, every cross street on Brighton Beach Avenue (between Ocean Parkway and Coney Island Avenue) is rutted with potholes and paving seams, some in disrepair for decades. These conditions continue to put pedestrians at risk and NYC at risk of liability. Since you’ve asked, we hope someone will listen and finally do something to improve our community’s quality of life. We are certainly taxed enough for these sorely neglected basic needs. Thank you.

During the months of July and August, especially on the weekends, traffic gets backed up due to the high influx of people either going to the beach or amusement area. For the last couple of 4th Of Julys, traffic from stillwell Avenue gets diverted to west 37st creating only one way to get out of Coney Island Via Neptune Avenue. This is unsafe as I have seen many EMS vehicles literally STUCK in traffic. Coney Island residents shouldn’t have their lives at risk due to traffic obstructions. There should be a stop sign on West 36th street and Neptune as well in order for people and especially kids to utilize.

Cropsey Ave - Neptune Ave - Hart Pl

CROPSEY AVE IS THE ONLY EXIT FOR TRAFFIC BEING UTILIZED TO EXIT CONEY ISLAND. THIS CAUSING TRAFFIC TO BACK UP ALL THE WAY TO SEAGATE ON NEPTUNE AVE. 1, ONCE TRAFFIC INCREASES LEAVING CONEY ISLAND USING CROPSEY AVE NORTH TO BELT PARKWAY, TRAFFIC SHOULD BE DIVERTED BY TRAFFIC AGENT NOT BY TRAFFIC SIGNALS. 2. DIVERT TRAFFIC EAST ON NEPTUNE AVE TO STILLWELL AVE WHICH HAS ACCESS ROUTES TO BELT PARKWAY. TRAFFIC AGENTS INFORECE TO MAKE LEFT ONTO STIWELL AVE NORTH BOUND TO EXIT CONEY ISLAND FOR BELT PARKWAY ACCESS. 3. NEPTUNE AVE EASTBOUND IS ANOTHER EXIT FOR TRAFFIC LEAVING CONEY ISLAND WITH ACCESS TO BELT PARKWAY EAST AND WESTBOUND. WAITING FOR TRAFFIC SIGNALS AND TRAFFIC AGENTS DIRECTING TRAFFIC WHEN TRAFFIC SIGNALS ARE AT RED AND GREEN WILL NOT TO WORK. THE FLOW OF TRAFFIC LEAVING OUT OF CONEY ISLAND MUST BE DONE AGAINST TRAFFIC SIGNALS IN ORDER TO RELIEVE THE HEAVY CONGESTION. I LIVE ON WEST 37TH STREET AND THE TRAFFIC REACHES THAT FAR BACK. BY KEEPING THE FLOW GOING WILL HELP CITY TRANSIT BUSES MOVE MORE FREELY AND MOST OF ALL FIRE, EMS AND POLICE WILL HAVE BETTER REPONSE TIME.

Every time I come to this intersection I am AFRAID to cross in either direction. Cars, trucks, and buses are turning really fast all the time. The two gas stations that are located here do not make it any better. I find this intersection VERY unsafe for pedestrians and drivers as well. There are also many auto shops on Neptune Ave that add to the chaos that is going on. There needs to be a crossing guard at this intersection as soon as possible considering the schools that are located close by.

Neptune Ave - West 5 St - West 6 St

Neptune Ave between West 5th street and West 6th St is a long and dangerous block that is used by seniors to get from the Warbasse side to the shopping center and back crossing against 4 lanes of traffic and many double parked cars. Seniors have trouble walking to the corners making this a nightmare waiting to happen. This area is also a major bus thoroughfare. On top of which it has become a raceway as cars try to make the light on the corners. Please note there are very active driveways on the north side of Neptune Ave. I suggest a flashing yellow light mid block at 525 Neptune Ave with pedestrian crossing signage to make drivers aware of the defacto crossing.
