West 12th Street is critical for boardwalk businesses to receive pallet deliveries. Protecting truck access here is essential for operations.
For years, the Brooklyn Half Marathon has ended on the Coney Island Boardwalk. During the 2025 race: From West 10th to West 19th (approx. 2,376 ft / 0.45 miles / 6.6 football fields): • Beach and restroom access could be improved for wheelchairs and strollers, as these were not available until after 1 PM. • Only one public restroom was open (Stillwell Ave on the beach), while West 16th restrooms were closed. • Only one beach access point was available, at West 15th. Keeping Stillwell open would be more convenient, as it aligns with the train station and the public restroom. Large events like this bring excitement to the neighborhood, and can be even more successful with improved planning around restrooms, access points, and accessibility for all visitors.
Stillwell Avenue between Surf Ave and the Boardwalk has suffered for years from non-enforcement of parking rules. The block is filled daily with personal vehicles of City agency employees, while Traffic Enforcement avoids enforcement. This substantially reduces visitor parking, forces people into costly private lots, and directly harms legitimate small businesses that rely on turnover from accessible street parking. On 8/16/25, 28 of 29 cars on the east side of Stillwell were illegally parked, yet to our knowledge no tickets were issued despite multiple 311 complaints. We urge DOT and partner agencies to restore visitor parking and enforce meter rules for all blocks within the Amusement Area. For accountability, we also urge review of ticketing and meter data going back several years to identify when this practice began and which blocks have been most affected. It is critical for both visitors and businesses that existing metered street parking throughout the Amusement Area is protected, with continuous traffic enforcement maintained—especially from Easter through Labor Day—with strict adherence to the 2-hour limit, while still allowing brief stops for restaurant pick-ups when traffic permits.
Neptune Avenue eastbound to turn left on Cropsey Avenue or 17th St. is to the right turning lane starts a block away on 20th St. no one goes into the turning lane. They make their own turning lane. It’s one turning lane to go into two but everybody cut you off and doesn’t follow The arrows or they make a third lane turning lane including school bus buses and city buses is very dangerous. They make a left turn cutting everyone off.
The X28/38 express bus is a lifeline for our community. It is so important that we keep or expand service. As more people move into the neighborhood with all the new buildings, we need public transportation to expand to match the population growth. Please do not reduce express bus service in any way. The stops are ideally located as they are and the service is so valuable.
At the bus stop at 28th Ave, cars are always illegally parked. It makes it hard for the bus to pull over to pick up passengers or even to see passengers. Sometimes the bus goes by without stopping because there is nowhere to stop.
We need: 1. Street lights and 2. Street Cleaning under the train tracks on W 6 St. 1. When existing the Q/F train station and walking under the train tracks, it is extremely dark especially during winter when it's icy and slippery, not to mention unsafe. 2. Extremely dirty. That Street is never cleaned and there is all sorts of garbage accumulated (paper, plastic, pieces of furniture, etc). People use this path to walk to/from a busy train station. We need Street Lights and a Clean path.
There is a No Standing anytime soon, yet, cars completely ignore it and park during the day and overnight. We cannot see incoming cars when making a right turn from Shore Pmwy into Brighton 3rd St because of all the parked cars
We need more parking for residents. It's next to impossible to find, especially in the summer. And if a casino is built, it'll be even worse. The streets will always be at a standstill with traffic, and people who live here will need to spend hours circling the block to park.
