Greenways

Greenways provide safe and accessible corridors for transportation and active recreation through parks and on streets. NYC DOT is responsible for the planning, design and implementation of greenways on city streets.

A robust community engagement process brought forth two concept plans: one along the waterfront in southwest Brooklyn and the other connecting parks in central and eastern Queens.

Destination: Greenways! is a concept study focused on creating an improved greenway experience within New York City parks so that greenways are not simply connections between places, but enjoyable destinations in themselves.

A robust community engagement process brought forth two concept plans: one along the waterfront in southwest Brooklyn and the other connecting parks in central and eastern Queens. A joint effort between NYC DOT and the NYC Department of Parks and Recreation, the study was completed in Fall 2021 and presented in community report-back sessions in February 2022.
