Greenways

Greenways provide safe and accessible corridors for transportation and active recreation through parks and on streets. NYC DOT is responsible for the planning, design and implementation of greenways on city streets.

Project will facilitate connection to Highland Park and the future Historic Brooklyn Greenway

Newly-installed crosswalk at the intersection of Vermont Place and Cypress Avenue.

NYC DOT is currently implementing various public realm improvements at the intersection of Vermont Place and Cypress Avenue adjacent to Highland Park. This project will ultimately relocate signals, add signage to exit ramps, build new sidewalks, and create new curb extensions to create a more streamlined and safer pedestrian network. To date, new sidewalks and curb extensions have been installed by DOT's crews with more to come this fall. These improvements will likewise enhance connections to Highland Park and the future Historic Brooklyn Greenway, which will cover 12 miles from Coney Island to Highland Park.
