There needs to be a protected bike lane. I see more and more bikers in this neighborhood, including kids, and there is no safe route in any direction currently. The 5th Avenue Bike Lanes are a death trap. Buses + double parked delivery trucks every block + speeding = extremely dangerous. I feel much safer riding on 6th Avenue without a bike lane at all under the current conditions. But once you hit 24th Street, you have to take your pick of dangerous busy industrial/commercial roads.
Speeding is rampant and dangerous on this entire segment of 3rd Avenue.
The elevated structure and poor condition of curbs, walkways, and lighting beneath creates unsafe conditions for pedestrians and deters potential pedestrian traffic.
Lots of room for protected 2-way bike path on west side
There are no east-west bike routes in Sunset Park. They are badly needed.
Take out useless painted median and there is lots of room for a protected bike path
I dont even know if i should call this area a bike connection but there should be better signage and safer road access for cyclists to reach the waterfront.
The bike lane is faded and needs restriping on 5th ave.
There are always motorists, vans, etc double parked in the bike lane along the 5th ave. cyclists have to veer into traffic to get around them.
4th ave is a major street that is dangerous. Please add a protected bike lane leading from downtown through Park slope, sunset park and south to bay ridge.
